About Em
I want to help tutor young students simple because I know firsthand how difficult and demanding our studies can be - not only because I went through rigorous exams in the UK, but also because I am currently a University student. I struggled a lot getting to grips with content and form when I was in high school, but I found methods that worked very well for me and I would love to share them with others.

I'm a firm believer in the idea that no interpretation of a text is wrong - it's all about knowing how to use evidence directly from the text to back up the argument you're trying to make. It is for this reason that my lessons will primarily focus on drawing out versatile textual analysis of themes, motifs, and quotations. When you're in an exam and drawing your ideas together, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge of the text you are studying. Memorising over three-hundred quotations from my set texts at A Level allowed me to draw on exactly what I needed in order to best answer whatever question was thrown at me in the exam. I can help with structuring essays according to theme and chronology, as well as planning essays where the question itself demands a certain structure.
My lessons have no prescribed length - I will aim to work with each individual student in whatever way works best for them. I would say that one hour at a time gives way to broader and deeper textual analysis work and more thorough essay planning.
