About Mehar
I am an undergraduate at UCL studying BA Classics and the Ancient World. I enjoy teaching and working with students to help them improve and watch reach their goals. I was greatly influenced by my tutor and I understand the importance of this responsibility.
I am passionate about teaching Classics and specifically Latin to GCSE and A-Level students. I have recently sat these examinations and understand the exam boards and techniques needed to ace the exam alongside the knowledge of the subject.
I can provide students with thorough lessons on:
- Grammar topics
-How to go about Prose and Verse translations -techniques of breaking down a difficult translation, build confidence in the knowledge of the subject and specific authors. I have experience with Virgil, Cicero, Livy, Ovid, Seneca.
- How to go about Prose Comprehension - provide a framework of breaking down this paper, specific techniques to answer the questions since this paper is very technical.

Techniques
- My lessons are tailored to the student’s goals, strengths and weaknesses.
- Lessons are engaging and reflective: I work with my student to focus on their weaknesses through active learning in the lesson and focus on reflections of the lesson to continuously improve and tailor the content to best serve the student’s needs.
My lessons are for GCSE and A-Level Latin students, the lessons are usually an hour long.
Experience
I do not have online tutoring experience yet however I was a French Language leader at Fettes College, where I taught a class of 20 students. I have worked as a mentor and academic prefect for students at Fettes College as well.
