About James
RCSI Medicine Undergraduate, 7 Distinctions & 1 Higher Merit in the Junior Cert. 5 H1s and 2 H2s in the Leaving Cert (613 points overall). Over 15 academic awards achieved from primary to secondary school. I began tutoring friends in math 3 years ago as I was consistently getting H1s in my 5th & 6th year exams because I had a deep understanding of the subject and the requirements of the Leaving Cert. Through this tutoring experience, I have not only helped my peers and students excel in their exams, but I have also sharpened my own skills in chemistry as well as how to help different students tackle chemistry in unique ways. This detrimental insight was invaluable to me as it has taught me how to effectively communicate ideas and principles to students. Thus with my firsthand experience of achieving a H1 in the Leaving Cert, longstanding experience in tutoring as well as having a background in pharmaceutics and as a medicine student, I have a complete understanding of the Leaving Cert chemistry course which I intend to pass on to prospective high-achievers.

I focus on helping students truly understand the why behind chemistry concepts—not just memorise facts. Using my background in Medicine and Pharmaceutics, I break down complex topics into simple, relatable ideas.
Lessons are fully tailored to each student’s needs, whether you're aiming for a H1 or just trying to pass. I use exam-focused techniques, including how to approach tricky wording in questions, marking schemes, and time management tips.
I believe in active learning—lots of guided practice, diagrams, real-life examples, and regular mini-quizzes to build confidence. My goal is to help you feel calm, clear, and in control going into your Chemistry exam.
I will work through the entire course with you topic by topic whilst providing exam questions on each topic as attempting exam questions and understanding the style of questions that are asked is vital. Ensuring that you can both understand and apply the concepts on the LC course with exam papers, you will be confident in taking on the Leaving Cert and obtaining high marks regardless of how difficult the paper may be.
Towards the final exams, I will prepare detailed revision material along with tips, strategies and timing guidelines.
The duration of each lesson will vary from 60-90 mins depending on the amount of content that needs to be covered. I would recommend starting lessons at the beginning of 5th or 6th year as it allows for more time to consolidate your learning.
Private online classes are 25€/Lesson with help and support available through email 24/7. Please contact for more details regarding in-person classes. Classes will be available in the evenings on weekdays and during the day and evening on weekends.
