About Ruby
I am a biologist with specific interests in human disease and immunology. Whilst at school, I received tutoring to help with my examination preparation, and so I appreciate how useful tutoring can be to make you feel more confident in your studies or help you achieve specific grades you are aiming for.
I have found that in the classroom, sometimes details can be missed, especially when there are lots of other students, so having access to 1-1 support that covers specifically what you need help with is really important and something I think everyone should have access to.
My experience tutoring so far has been really positive, and I enjoy working with lots of different students and tailoring their sessions to their specific needs. It is a very rewarding job when you can see your students improving or becoming more confident.

My lessons will be focused on the needs of each student, whether that is helping them understand tricky concepts they may not have grasped initially, helping them practise questions and answers, or preparing them for examinations. I have an undergraduate degree in biology, and I am currently studying for a master's degree in biology too. I have previously worked at a residential boarding school in New Zealand as a residential tutor, where my main role was to provide 1-1 and small group tutoring to students needing extra help, specifically in science and maths.
Typically, my students were GCSE-level or below, but I would also happily tutor A-level biology. Lessons can be as long or as short as you need, but historically, I have found regular 1-hour lessons the most effective.
