About Shayan

Hi there! My name is Shayan, and I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals in Maths. I believe that education is a powerful tool that can unlock doors and lead to a fulfilling life, and I am dedicated to helping my students reach their full potential. As an Educator and Cambridge Graduate, I have over 10 years of experience tutoring students of various ages and levels in Maths and Physics. My approach to teaching is student-centred, meaning that I tailor my methods to the unique needs and learning styles of each individual student. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and I am committed to helping each of my students achieve their goals. During our lessons, I utilise a variety of teaching techniques and methodologies, including visual aids, interactive exercises, and real-world examples, to help my students fully understand the material. I encourage my students to ask questions and participate in the learning process, as I believe that active engagement is essential for effective learning. The typical length of my lessons is 1-2 hours, which allows me to cover the material thoroughly while still leaving room for questions and discussion. About the lesson

As a tutor, I believe in tailoring my approach to the individual needs of each student. I begin by assessing their strengths and weaknesses and using this information to create a personalised plan that emphasises their specific areas of improvement. My teaching methodology is based on breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more manageable parts. I encourage my students to ask questions and make connections between different topics, which helps them develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I use a range of techniques, such as visual aids, practical examples, and problem-solving exercises, to engage students and make the subject more accessible. Typically, my lessons are around 1.5-2 hours in length, because I've found from experience that it is the right amount of time to go really in depth with a topic. However, I am flexible and can adapt to the needs of the student. I believe in creating a comfortable and relaxed learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without fear of judgement. With over 10 years of experience working as a private tutor, I have worked with students of all ages and levels. I have a strong track record of helping students achieve their academic goals, whether that is improving their grades, preparing for exams or applying to universities. My qualifications and additional experiences include A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at A-levels, a Natural Sciences degree from the University of Cambridge, and experience working as a teacher and director of studies for a summer camp company. I have also won medals in Senior Maths & Physics Challenges and a Gold Award from the Royal Society of Chemistry for excellent achievement in their nationwide Cambridge Chemistry Challenge. Overall, my approach to tutoring is student-centred, personalised, and focused on developing a deep understanding of the subject matter. I am experienced in working with students of all ages and levels, and I use a range of techniques to engage and motivate them.

He has a genuine passion for the subject and plans to make a career in tutoring maths. He's technically adept at explaining topics intuitively from first principles, highlighting the fundamental concepts and picking up on the finer interrelations between topics. He carefully adapts his approach to different individuals and is patient and rewarding. I’ve noticed he can eloquently explain the practical importance of any mathematical topic, and his far-reaching pedagogical experience also makes him a very good academic mentor especially for any students putting together a university application.
