About Ian
In a classroom setting, I have been a teaching assistant for introductory mechanics, introductory quantum mechanics, intermediate mechanics and intermediate quantum mechanics (all courses at the freshman or sophomore college level). As an independent tutor, I have taught students in math from the early middle school to college level, in subjects ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, starting when I was in high school.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude in physics from Cornell University in 2016. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in theoretical physics at the University of Chicago, where I am also a physics teaching assistant. I have experience in teaching in both a classroom and one-on-one format, though I find I am more effective in the latter environment. Developing an engaged and questioning thought process is the most important part of learning physics and math effectively. When tutoring one-on-one, my goal is to promote this way of thinking in my students.

Details
My rates for physics and math tutoring are as follows:
-Middle + High School (up to AP physics): $40/hr
-Introductory College (mechanics, calculus, E&M, pre-med or engineering physics): $45/hr
-Advanced College (quantum mechanics, lagrangian/hamiltonian mechanics, linear algebra, complex analysis, etc.): $50/hr
All lessons will be in hour increments.
