About Neil

Hello, my name is Neil, and I am a BSc Economics undergraduate at the University of Southampton with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for education! Having recently completed my GCSEs and A Levels, I understand the challenges that students face and the skills required to succeed in today’s examinations.

Throughout my education, I consistently achieved high academic standards, including Grade 9s in Physics, Chemistry and History, as well as Grade 8s in Mathematics, Economics, Biology, English Literature and English Language. These achievements reflect not only subject knowledge but also the effective study techniques and exam strategies that I aim to pass on to my students.

Alongside my studies, I have gained valuable experience working with young people through volunteering roles. As an 11+ Assistant, I supported children from a range of backgrounds with their learning and helped create a positive and encouraging environment where they could develop confidence in their abilities.

I pride myself on being patient, approachable and well-prepared. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, tackling difficult topics and developing confidence in their own abilities. Whether a student is seeking extra support, aiming to improve their grades, or striving for top marks, I am committed to helping them reach their full potential.

I currently offer tuition in 11+, KS3 and GCSE Mathematics, Economics, History and look forward to supporting students on their academic journey!

About the lesson

As a BSc Economics undergraduate and former Reading School student, I am passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. Having recently completed GCSEs and A Levels myself, I understand the challenges students face and can explain difficult concepts in a clear, relatable and engaging way.

Academically, I achieved multiple top GCSE grades, including Grade 9s in Physics, Chemistry and History, Grade 8s in Mathematics, Economics, Biology, English Literature and English Language, and I am now studying Economics at university.

My teaching approach focuses on developing a strong understanding of key concepts before applying them to exam-style questions. I tailor each lesson to the individual student’s needs, identifying areas for improvement and adapting my explanations and practice materials accordingly. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically and develop problem-solving skills that will benefit them both inside and outside the classroom.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and include a mixture of guided instruction, worked examples, independent practice and personalised feedback. I also share effective revision techniques, exam strategies and study habits that helped me achieve excellent academic results.

I have experience supporting younger students through my role as an 11+ Assistant, where I worked weekly with children from disadvantaged backgrounds to improve their understanding of key topics and build their confidence. In addition, as an Assistant Badminton Coach, I regularly worked with children aged 7–13, developing strong communication, leadership and mentoring skills while helping them learn new techniques and improve their performance.

I offer tuition from 11+ all the way till GCSE level subjects, mainly Mathematics, Economics and History, for students of all abilities.
