About Ingrid
I am a tertiary educator/lecturer who currently works part-time at The University of Queensland as a Learning Advisor. I have worked at the Queensland University of Technology's International College, the University of Regensburg, and The University of the Witwatersrand in the field of applied English Language Studies and English Education as a lecturer, student supervisor and tutor. I am also a trained counsellor and volunteer Crisis Supporter for Lifeline.

I adopt a holistic approach to teaching. I like to identify and draw on the existing strengths and skills of students and I believe students learn better when they enjoy learning and are engaged and interactive. I find deductive strategies useful and encourage students to experiment, stretch themselves, engage in self-testing and relate content to their own lives and contexts. I aim to instil analytical and critical thinking in students and I regard writing as a thinking tool. I model effective study strategies for students and am able to share a deep understanding of what makes writing coherent with the students I collaborate with.
