About Jackie
I am a certified ESL educator with experience teaching English across a wide range of learners and proficiency levels. My background includes working with grade school children, supporting new workers as they build confidence in workplace communication, and guiding business-level professionals in refining their English for more effective and polished communication.

My approach as an ESL tutor is student-centered, practical, and goal-driven. I focus on building real-world communication skills while strengthening core language foundations such as grammar, vocabulary, writing structure, and pronunciation.
Teaching methodology and techniques
I use a blended approach that adapts to each learner’s level, goals, and learning style. Lessons combine:
Communicative practice to build confidence in speaking naturally and fluently
Task-based learning using real-life scenarios like interviews, workplace communication, and everyday conversations
Guided correction and feedback to improve grammar accuracy and sentence structure without discouraging fluency
Skill integration, ensuring reading, writing, listening, and speaking develop together rather than in isolation
Personalized content, including topics relevant to the student’s career, interests, or academic needs
Typical lesson plan
A standard session is structured but flexible:
Warm-up conversation (5–10 min): casual speaking practice to build comfort and fluency
Target skill focus (15–20 min): grammar point, vocabulary set, or writing technique
Guided practice (15–20 min): exercises, role-play, or writing tasks with real-time support
Applied communication activity (10–15 min): speaking or writing using the target skill in context
Feedback & next steps (5–10 min): corrections, improvement strategies, and personalized homework
