About Katrina
I am a dedicated film scholar and educator with years of experience teaching at the university level. I hold a PhD in Film Studies and have published research that reflects my deep engagement with cinema, culture, and media. Over the course of my career, I have taught a wide range of students—both in person and online—helping them develop strong writing, analytical, and research skills. Students can expect patience, encouragement, and clear guidance from me. I know that writing about film can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I break the process into manageable steps, offering structured support while also fostering independence and confidence. My goal is not just to help students complete an assignment, but to equip them with tools they can carry forward into future classes and projects. My teaching method combines close reading, structured analysis, and individualized feedback. I encourage students to connect film techniques—cinematography, sound, editing, and narrative structure—to broader cultural and thematic questions. I work with students step by step to improve clarity, organization, and argumentative depth in their essays.
A typical lesson begins with a short discussion of the assignment or film under study, followed by targeted exercises in thesis development, evidence gathering, and essay structure. I provide guided feedback on drafts and offer strategies for revision, so students gain practical tools for academic success.
What sets me apart as a tutor is the depth of my scholarly background—I hold a PhD in Film Studies, have published my dissertation, and have taught at the university level for years, both in-person and online. I bring both rigor and flexibility, tailoring my guidance to each student’s needs and helping them gain confidence as critical thinkers and writers.
