About Sarah

I am an 18 year old female currently in my first year studying Mathematics (BSc) at the University of York. I have been giving maths lessons over the last 2 years to 4 students aged between 10 and 16. The eldest achieved a final grade 6 at GCSE after being consistently at a grade 4 before beginning lessons with me, though sadly, I've not been able to continue tutoring the other students due to moving away for university.

*I achieved grade 9 in my own mathematics GCSE along with A* and A respectively in A-level mathematics and further mathematics.

About the lesson

I am looking to give at home or online lessons to secondary school pupils aged 14 to 16 as this is the level of mathematics I most enjoy teaching. In the first few lessons I will use online past papers and go through the questions to identify any weaknesses in specific topics - as well as asking the student if they know of any particular weaknesses they currently have. Once these are established, I will guide the student through worksheet questions on each topic until they are able to confidently answer the questions themselves with little to no help. I like to begin each lesson with a small test to double check the previous lesson's knowledge. Sometimes, I will introduce new topics to pupils early, before they are introduced in school so that they have a better understanding in class when they come up. :-)

One of the children has since taken his GCSE maths and achieved a good pass Sarah is a friendly and trustworthy young woman with an excellent understanding of maths. I would happily recommend her as a maths tutor, particularly for those in or approaching their GCSE years but also for students needing a bit of extra support with A level content.
