About Carlos

As a university student entering my final year I feel like I can understand students better than most tutors. My method of learning subjects myself has always been around recounting, explaining and applying concepts, in a way teaching has always helped me solidify concepts in my mind. As such I enjoy teaching. Furthermore I come from a family of teachers, so I know a lot about teaching personally from helping family members, and having worked in schools before I have experience dealing with students.

About the lesson

As a university undergraduate, my tutoring style focuses on making complex topics feel accessible and engaging by tailoring each session to the individual needs and learning style of the student. I use evidence-based methods like active recall, spaced repetition, and the Feynman technique to help reinforce understanding and long-term retention. I prioritize building a judgment-free environment where questions are always encouraged, and I adapt my explanations in real time to ensure clarity. By breaking concepts down step by step and encouraging students to explain ideas back to me, I help them build both confidence and mastery. My goal is not just to help students pass, but to truly understand and enjoy what they're learning. I am a firm believer in the fact that students are best at retaining things they are passionate about, so turning study from a chore to a creative effort and a work of discovery is essential. All of my first lessons are focused on finding out what are the best learning methods for my students, what specific subjects they are going to learn, and where they are at in their studies. A mini-test/quiz may be expected (30 mins- 1 hour) to find out where a student is at in a particular subject. As such the first lesson is typically discounted depending on method of payment.
