About Millie

I’m a passionate and committed trainee primary school teacher currently completing my PGCE through a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme. I hold a degree in English from the University of Southampton, and I’m now dedicating my career to helping young learners flourish in their academic journeys. My journey into teaching began with a love of language and a desire to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives. I believe that every child deserves the chance to grow in confidence, find joy in learning, and realise their potential. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to offer tailored, one-to-one support that meets each child where they are and helps them move forward at their own pace. With classroom experience across Key Stage 1 and 2, I understand how children learn and how to adapt my teaching to suit different needs and abilities. Whether your child is preparing for the 11 Plus, needs help with phonics, or simply wants to boost their reading confidence, I provide calm, structured, and engaging lessons that make learning feel achievable and rewarding. About the lesson

As a University of Southampton English graduate and current School-Centred PGCE trainee, I bring both subject expertise and practical classroom experience to my tutoring. I specialise in supporting primary-aged children with reading, literacy, phonics, and preparation for the 11 Plus. My approach is child-centred, engaging, and tailored to each pupil’s individual needs. I use a mix of interactive phonics activities, comprehension exercises, and vocabulary-building games to develop confident, fluent readers. For 11 Plus preparation, I focus on building strong foundational skills in comprehension, spelling, grammar, and writing, using past paper practice and targeted strategies to build exam confidence. Lessons are typically 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the age and concentration span of the child. I ensure that sessions are both structured and enjoyable, balancing clear learning objectives with plenty of encouragement and praise. I have experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and 2 through my PGCE placements, and I understand how to adapt my methods to suit different learning styles and abilities. Whether your child needs support catching up with class reading or is aiming for success in the 11 Plus, I provide personalised, effective tutoring to help them progress and feel confident.
