About Barbara
I'm currently studying Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, along with History of Art. Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing guitar and piano, and I love spending time outdoors with a good book and a coffee when the weather is nice. Looking towards the future, I'm considering careers in HR or psychotherapy. I'm drawn to teaching because it gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge with others, while also being able to see the student's progress and further fuelling their passion towards Psychology.

My tutoring approach for IBDP Psychology focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students not only understand the concepts but also learn how to apply them effectively, especially to specific school assignments or homework. Having personally navigated the IBDP and achieved a high score in Psychology HL, I understand the curriculum's demands and assessment criteria, placing an emphasis on developing critical thinking skills and essay writing skills. My goal is to not just provide answers, but to guide them through the thought process, helping to develop critical thinking skills and essay writing skills crucial for IB Psychology. While the typical lesson length can be flexible, I usually aim for sessions of around one hour. These sessions will be tailored to the student's individual learning pace. My previous experience includes informally assisting D1 and D2 students with Psychology (SL/HL) during my time in school, which has given me a foundational understanding of how to explain concepts clearly and address common points of confusion. I am enthusiastic about now offering this support in a more structured tutoring capacity to current IBDP Psychology students.
