About Prithvi

I am a 21-year-old student at the University of Geneva, in the 3rd year of a bachelor's degree in Information Systems and English is also my mother tongue. I also graduated with a Bilingual International Baccalaureate diploma and obtained the "IGCSE English literature" certificate with an "A".

I am Swiss, of Indian origin! I love movies, watching all kinds of TV series and tennis.

I'm also a singer in a Rock band based in Geneva, so I obviously like to talk about music as well;)

About the lesson

The books and videos that can be found online are quite explanatory on how to learn the English language. But the real challenge is to put it into practice and know how to talk to people in any situation!

I love talking and getting to know people! If you are looking to practice how to structure sentences, improve your vocabulary / grammar, know how to pronounce certain words well, how to speak the English language which is "really" spoken between young people or also how to address yourself correctly in a professional environnement : this course is for you!

I am always flexible to tailor my class according to each students needs and wishes! But generally, my lesson begins with the exchange of information that has happened over the week. Whether it is personal or general news! Then, I find it essential to introduce certain extracts from the newspaper and/or from a video (for example from a film) in order to become familiar with the vocabulary and grammar and to know how to express one's opinion freely. We will also discuss the details from within the passage and try to answer each other's questions! If the student wishes to work on a specific field /area (scientific language, formal English spoken at the restaurant/hotel etc.) it is even better! Finally, I also give a short passage of reading or a short video to analyse as homework and prepare answers to certain questions! This is then discussed in class! I am also always available outside of class hours to answer any question if the student wishes!
