About Matthew

I'm a neuroscience and psychology student at the University of Manchester, and I've always enjoyed learning about biology and how the human body works.

I know that A-level Biology can feel overwhelming at times, with so much content to learn and mark schemes being so precise. However, I am confident that together we can tackle the content in a structured way and begin to learn the patterns in mark schemes that will help you to secure marks on questions.

I offer flexible scheduling, with a wide range of lesson times available throughout the week (including daytime and evening sessions). I'm happy to work around your existing commitments and can accommodate different lesson times from week to week where needed.

I am a friendly and patient person, and I want my lessons to be a supportive space where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning at your own pace.

About the lesson

Our A-level Biology lessons can always be adapted to what you would most like to work on, whether that is understanding content, specific maths skills or maximising marks on questions. I like to begin by developing a deep and secure understanding of the topic, before moving on to working through practice questions together and honing your exam technique. We can then identify areas for improvement and develop a strategy together to help you reach the grade you want.

I achieved A grades or above in all four of my A-levels: Biology, Mathematics, Psychology and French. I also have professional experience tutoring GCSE Mathematics through a tutoring agency.

Furthermore, I have professional experience working with neurodivergent students and am happy to adapt lessons to each student's individual needs and preferences, including those of autistic students and students with ADHD or dyslexia.

As a neuroscience and psychology student at the University of Manchester, with a year of research experience in a laboratory, I have a strong understanding of how to study sciences effectively. I'm excited to help students build their confidence in biology, develop their understanding of challenging concepts and become more effective at applying their knowledge in exams.

Asha

Matthew is a fantastic tutor. I am not confident in stem subjects and never had been. I really needed someone patient and Matthew was the perfect tutor to spend as much time on difficult topics as I needed. I ended up improving my grade significantly and getting into my first choice for university in Nueroscience.
