About Drea
Hello! My name is Andrea, and I’m a junior at university majoring in Philosophy and Political Science. I’ve been a writing tutor for over four years, helping students develop their writing skills across a wide range of formats—from personal essays and literature analyses to short- and long-form academic research papers. My academic background has equipped me with strong critical thinking and communication skills, and most of my coursework centers around writing clearly, persuasively, and effectively. I understand how overwhelming writing can feel, and my goal is to make the process more approachable and even enjoyable for my students. With over four years of experience supporting students in improving their writing, my approach is built on flexibility, clarity, and individualized support. I began tutoring in high school by offering feedback on underclassmen papers, and since then, I've expanded my work through college-level writing programs and peer editing—both paid and volunteer.
My tutoring method focuses on meeting students where they are in the writing process, whether they’re brainstorming, drafting, or revising. I prioritize active listening and ask guiding questions to help students clarify their ideas and develop their voice. I tailor my feedback to each student's learning style and writing goals, balancing encouragement with clear, actionable suggestions.
My tutoring plan typically includes:
