About Xintong
I am Xintong, a quantitative specialist committed to clear teaching, careful preparation, and respectful communication. My work is grounded in doctoral training and current industry practice, so what we cover in sessions reflects both academic standards and the way analysis is done in professional settings.
I completed my Ph.D. in Actuarial Science and Quantitative Finance at the University of Waterloo, following graduate work in actuarial science and a strong foundation in applied mathematics. I currently serve as a Graduate Quantitative Analyst in the Australian energy sector, where I build models, work with large market and time-series datasets, and support forecasting and strategy. Earlier roles in research and insurance strengthened my skills in Python, statistical modeling, and rigorous documentation—habits I bring into tutoring so that explanations stay precise and reproducible.

You can expect a mix of worked examples, short exercises during the session, and guidance on how to debug errors and read outputs critically rather than only chasing the final answer.
Techniques and methodology
Diagnostic start: identify gaps in prerequisites (algebra, probability, programming basics) before adding new material.
Problem-driven learning: use questions drawn from coursework, past papers, or realistic mini-projects so skills transfer to exams and assignments.

My background also includes research assistant roles involving Python, machine learning, and financial modeling.
