About Tyler
I’m a Chemistry tutor with over 4 years of experience and a BA in Chemistry, passionate about helping students dive deep into the world of materials and polymers. I specialize in polymer chemistry and materials synthesis, guiding learners through the fascinating process of how everyday materials are created and modified. My teaching focuses on polymerization mechanisms—step-growth, chain-growth, and everything in between. I help students explore the relationships between chemical structure and material properties, from flexibility to durability. My teaching approach in Chemistry is relaxed, clear, and focused on real-world applications. I believe students learn best when they can connect theory to practical use. That’s why I emphasize instrumental analysis and hands-on understanding. From analytical chemistry to spectroscopy (NMR, IR, UV-Vis), I break down complex topics into simple parts. Students gain confidence in interpreting data and solving lab-based problems.
I also teach chromatography, quantitative analysis, and reaction mechanisms with a focus on how these methods are used in research and industry. My sessions often include lab-based examples and case studies. This helps students relate textbook content to what they actually do in the lab. Whether it’s separating compounds or understanding absorption spectra, I make sure students understand the ‘why’ behind every technique.
I work closely with students in genetics and microbiology, helping them link chemistry to their experiments. I guide them in mastering lab techniques, safety practices, and scientific thinking. My aim is not just to help them pass exams, but to make them confident in their future lab work. I support each learner at their pace and help them grow step by step.
