About Arianna

I'm a native Italian speaker based in York. I hold a Master's in Theatre-Making from the University of York and a BA (Hons) in Cultural Heritage from the University of Milan. I have experience working as a writer and theatre director in both Italy and the UK. My work focuses on multilingual theatre and immigrant integration. Additionally, I have three years of experience as a tutor, teaching Italian, Spanish, and English both in Italy and the UK. With my theatre background, I can help you practise your Italian through playful and interactive lessons, covering everything you need to know about our grammar (but don't be scared, it's not as bad as it seems) and conversation skills. I can prepare you for CILS and other official certificates, as well as teach you all the fun slang and share insights about Italian culture and literature, especially if you're a bit of a book nerd like me.

About the lesson

my methodology is based on the needs and priorities of each student. Being passionate about foreign languages, I spent all my high school years studying French, English, and Spanish. I will focus on helping you with grammar, vocabulary, and a lot of practice with conversation. My teaching methodology is dynamic and multifaceted, integrating various approaches to cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of my students. I mix the study of grammar and conversational practice with multimedia resources such as videos and songs, and literary texts to create engaging learning experiences. I have a personal interest in linguistics, which comes in handy when studying and comparing the grammatical structures of the Italian language with English. I am self-taught in multiple languages (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese) which give me a deep knowledge of strategies and techniques to make the learning easier and more effective. Moreover, I have experience in living in three different countries (Italy, England, Argentina). My background allows me to enrich my lessons with authentic materials and cultural insights. I will try to make my teaching more interesting by choosing together the subject of each lecture and by trying to incorporate your personal interests and passions while also sharing with you the passion I have for the Italian language and culture. Overall, my teaching approach is characterised by flexibility, creativity, and a curiosity towards cultures different from one's own.
