About Clay
My teaching approach focuses on flexibility, problem-solving, cultural sensitivity, and accountability to help students succeed in piano and other subjects.
Flexibility is key to my lessons. I adapt my teaching methods to fit each student’s unique learning style and pace. Whether you prefer structured lessons or a more relaxed atmosphere, I’m here to guide you.
I emphasize problem-solving by encouraging students to tackle challenges creatively. In piano, this means breaking down complex pieces and exploring different techniques to overcome difficulties. For other subjects, I use real-world examples to make concepts easier to understand.
Being culturally sensitive is important to me. I respect and celebrate diverse backgrounds, integrating cultural elements into lessons to enrich learning. This helps students connect with the material on a deeper level.
Lastly, I promote accountability. I work closely with students to set achievable goals and track progress, fostering a sense of responsibility in their learning journey.

With over 6 years of experience teaching piano to college students, I am passionate about helping my students discover the joy of music. My teaching style is friendly and supportive, focusing on each student's unique goals and interests. I believe in creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable to express themselves.
I use innovative methods to make learning fun and effective. For instance, I incorporate technology by using apps and software that enhance practice and help track progress. I also blend traditional techniques with modern approaches, allowing students to explore various genres—from classical to jazz—while developing their own musical style.
