About Ethan
My teaching approach uses rhythm as a powerful tool to unlock vocal freedom, timing, and expression. I help students feel the pulse of the music through movement, clapping, and vocal exercises that train internal timing. Whether you're singing gospel with rich syncopation, jazz with playful phrasing, or funk with tight grooves, rhythm becomes your foundation. We explore beat subdivision, call-and-response, and rhythmic phrasing to build confidence and control. I guide students in understanding how rhythm supports vocal energy and emotional release. Some singers connect deeply through body movement or instinct, and I tailor our work to honor and develop that natural style. For those new to singing, rhythm helps organize their voice and calm performance anxiety. For more experienced vocalists, it sharpens phrasing, articulation, and dynamic delivery. I bring in practical rhythm-based drills and genre-specific techniques to match each student's goals and style.
