About Silvio
I live in the multicultural community of Monteverde, Costa Rica. After high school I spent thirteen years studying in the USA, where I got a BA in Classics and Mathematics from Grinnell College, an MA in Classics from the University of Georgia, and did six years of study in a PhD program at UCLA. After some changes in my personal priorities, I became less interested in doing academic research and more interested in returning to my hometown, but I still have a passion for languages and helping people learn them.

Some quotations from my evaluations when I taught Latin and Greek as a grad student:
"Silvio was a delight to work with. His mastery of [Greek] is impressive, and his joy at sharing his
enthusiasm for it is inspiring."
"Silvio is the most patient human being I have ever met. . . . He is very understanding in how difficult Latin can be and never talks down to us like we're stupid."
"I have nothing bad to say about this instructor . . . he has made learning a completely new language (not to mention a dead language) engaging and easy."
