About Brandon

I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Pittsburgh. I also have a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology. I passed USMLE Step 1, scored 260+ on USMLE Step 2 CK, and earned strong scores on my NBME shelf exams throughout my clinical rotations. During my USMLE preparation, I spent countless hours working through multiple question banks, dissecting NBME-style questions, and developing effective approaches to clinical reasoning and test-taking. I have also tutored medical students through my medical school, where my work was recognized with a mentoring certificate, and I have seen score improvements of 20+ points among students I have worked with.

I also will provide high school and college level science and mathematics tutoring. I also will provide pre-med coaching and medical school admissions consultations.

About the lesson

My tutoring philosophy focuses on strategy rather than simply memorizing more content. I help students identify key clues in clinical vignettes, understand what a question is truly asking, distinguish between closely related answer choices, and recognize patterns in their mistakes. Prior to medical school, I taught high school- and college-level mathematics for several years, which taught me how to break down complex concepts and adapt my teaching style to each student. Together, we will develop an individualized study plan based on your goals, timeline, strengths, and weaknesses, while targeting content gaps and building effective test-taking strategies.

In addition to high and college STEM courses, I tutor both USMLE Step exams and NBME shelf exams, with an emphasis on strengthening clinical reasoning, improving confidence, managing test-taking anxiety, and building endurance for exam day. My goal is not only to help you improve your score, but also to help you develop a systematic approach to questions that you can consistently apply on test day and greater confidence in your clinical knowledge on the wards. I take my students' success seriously and make myself accessible for questions and guidance throughout their preparation.
