Val immediately made me feel at ease and I was always encouraged to achieve what I wanted. Her knowledge,experience and artistic talent was vast but never overwhelming and she carefully guided me in using different approaches and techniques that I hadnt considered.
I am so grateful that I found her.

Val set me a professional brief for my final project at University.We met regularily to review my progress ,I would give a presentation,explain my ideas and Val would give me constructive criticism.This was fantastic practice for future freelance design work and gave me the extra marks I needed to get a 2:1 degree.All the way through the project Val was very insightful and encouraging.

I had decided to publish a book of my poems with illustrations but having no background in art so I searched for a tutor.I may as well have clicked the 'I am feeling lucky ' button for I could'nt have asked for a better teacher.Over the next few months I was introduced to mediums, techniques I'd never tried before.Val guided me gently ,gave me confidence,to explore and create a book far better than I had ever imagined.Five months later the book is at the publishers.

Val is a very talented and knowledgeable artist, but also a kind and patient teacher who has a lovely manner with children. She introduced Rachel to techniques and media that are not taught in school art lessons, and was very helpful in developing Rachel's observational drawing skills. The lessons with Val helped Rachel produce a portfolio of interesting and original work which led to an offer of an art scholarship for Year 7.
