About Yolanda
A BM in Vocal Performance does not mean you have to sound like an opera singer to enjoy your voice. My education at UBC gave me the technical tools to understand how the body produces sound, but my students taught me how to actually share that knowledge. I work with hobbyists and intermediate learners who want to bridge the gap between singing in the shower and singing with confidence. My own narrative involves navigating the music world as a neurodivergent teacher who values honesty and clear communication.
Over 11 years, I have seen how specialized training can change a person's relationship with their own sound. We focus on head and chest voice, microphone technique, and genre styling to ensure you feel prepared for any stage. Are you curious about how your unique voice can grow through daily practice?

You receive recorded warm-up routines to ensure your vocal health stays consistent outside of our meetings. I prioritize clear, actionable feedback to help you master sight singing and harmony singing. My teaching style is direct and articulate to save you time during our sessions together.
We use specific exercises to improve your pitch control and expand your range. Genre styling for pop, classical, or musical theater is explored to build your versatility as a performer. Grade exam candidates benefit from my focus on technical accuracy and stage presence.
