About Zachary

I am a sixth-form student at Victoria College with a strong interest in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. I genuinely enjoy finding different ways to approach challenging problems, which is an attribute I hope I can pass on to my students.

Having recently completed my GCSEs, I remember what it was like to struggle with difficult topics and feel unsure about how to revise effectively - this is one of the reasons I want to tutor.

: I know how much of a difference the right explanation, study technique and one-to-one support can make.

Personally, I am friendly, patient and I'd like to think I am very approachable, and I want my lessons to be a place where the students can feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim isn't only to help students achieve better grades, but to also help them become more confident and independent learners.

About the lesson

I am a sixth-form student at Victoria College, currently studying Maths, Physics and Computer Science. I achieved Grade 9s in GCSE Maths, Physics and Chemistry and understand the challenges students can face when preparing for exams.

When I started GCSEs I was predicted 6s and 7s for all my subjects, however once I discovered an effective studying technique and when I got 1 to 1 help I was able to significantly beat all my predictions and get the grade average of 8.0 which I had hoped for with 9s in the field of STEM. I hope I can help other students excel as well!

My lessons are aimed at GCSE students and I will try my best to tailor the 1 to 1 time to the students' needs and help them be as effective as possible. I focus on explaining difficult concepts clearly, working through examples together, and then giving students the opportunity to apply what they have learned independently. I'd also be very happy to explain some of the exam technique I learned which I'd attribute to being essential for bagging those 9s.

My lessons typically last one hour, with a friendly and relaxed approach - perfect for building confidence and giving constructive criticism and friendly tips. Since I've recently completed my GCSEs myself, I know I can offer a current student's perspective on revision techniques, exams and the GCSE experience.
