About Joey
I'm a young contemporary artist originally from Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, born in 2000 and raised in the town of Cradock. In 2018, I graduated from Cradock High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Visual and Performing Arts Honors (NQF8) from Nelson Mandela University, and now call Cape Town my home. My artistic journey is fueled by a passion for exploring the intersection of therapeutic and contemporary art, particularly in addressing anxiety through creative expression. I'm currently pursuing a PGCE degree at Stadio. Throughout my university years, I've been fortunate to exhibit in three local group exhibitions, sharing my art and engaging with fellow creators. As a three-time participant and top 100 emerging artist in the esteemed Sasol New Signatures competition, I'm thrilled to contribute to South Africa's vibrant art scene and share my perspective with a broader audience.
