About Katherine

I'm Kasia and I have been dancing a variety of Latin street styles (Salsa, Mambo, Chachacha, Bachata, Kizomba) for 16 years, and I have been teaching for over 10 years, in Poland and the UK. I have spent 6 months in New York training intensely and performing with the best salsa and bachata companies in the world such as Yamulee Dance Company, Empire Dance Studios, and artists such as Eddie Torres Sr and Jr, Frankie Martinez, Franklin Diaz, Ace Fusion, Desiree Godsell.
I am a dance instructor at Con Tumbao, City Academy, and Sanura Dance. As well as being a dancer, I am also a professional salsa flautist. Recently, I played with the legendary musicians Jimmy Bosch and Orquesta Broadway.

I love teaching my students in a caring environment, always motivating and keeping them accountable. I explain all the movements and focus on all aspects of dancing - technique, body movement, footwork, partnerwork, style, expression, and most importantly musicality. I equip students with a growth plan so students know clearly how to progress and meet their dance goals. If needed, I can create (or help create) a personalized choreography. Looking forward to meeting you and sharing with you my love for dance!

  • What age did you start dancing? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

From as young as five, I was already putting on performances for my family - I'd make them all sit down and watch me improvise my own little shows. A few years later I enrolled at a dance school where I trained in hip-hop, dancehall, and jazz. Then as a teenager I heard Aventura's Obsesión for the first time and that was it - I couldn't stop listening! Soon I discovered salsa, bachata, and everything that came with them. I was completely obsessed.
  • What are your favourite dance styles; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and one you'd still like to discover?

My heart belongs to salsa - the musicality, the feeling, the whole world it opens up, including mambo, son cubano, and cha-cha-chá. I also love Dominican bachata and kizomba. Each style has its own distinct energy and emotion. Next style I’d like to explore is contact improvisation.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue dancing?

Social dancing is what I really love - that pure, unscripted interaction between two people interpreting the music together. Those moments of genuine connection with a partner who hears the music the same way you do, who leads with clarity and sensitivity and still takes you on an extraordinary journey through the song - those moments are absolutely worth living and dancing for.
  • Do you have an achievement that you're particularly proud of?

I've organised my own dance evenings featuring live musicians, where I danced, performed with the band, and led the whole event. I've also had the privilege of sharing the floor with some truly incredible dancers over the years. More recently, leading my own dance team has been the most rewarding experience of all - watching them grow, perform choreographies, and fall deeper in love with salsa is genuinely the greatest feeling.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better dancer?

Training in New York with companies like Yamuleé, Empire Mambo, and Amargue Flow was transformative. It was all about discipline, hard work, and passionate dancing at every session. Learning to lead was another humbling challenge - my following was already at an advanced level, so starting from scratch on the leading side taught me patience and empathy for beginners. Both experiences really shaped me.
  • If you were to have a dance with a famous dancer, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

Without hesitation - Fadi Fusion and Bersy Cortez, they are both incredible, world famous dancers who inspired me so much. I absolutely love them both! And what would I ask them? Probably what their comfort food is. 😄
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

I encourage students to set dance-related goals, even the smallest and most achievable ones. Once those are in place, I help them stay accountable and believe in themselves. Progress builds confidence and this makes you want to do it more and more!
  • What makes you a Superprof in dance?

My background is both dance and music, and this wide perspective gives me a deeper understanding of the learning process and how movement and sound connect. I have trained in many styles so I can translate it in ways that make sense to each individual student. I'm also genuinely passionate about the history behind Latin music - whenever I can, I pay tribute to the cultures and artists who created these styles. Knowing the roots always makes you a richer dancer.
