About Lorie

I am a passionate creative director and marketer with 25+ years of experience managing design and marketing projects, building valuable client and vendor relationships, and improving organizational efficiency to drive growth. I love problem-solving and developing meaningful relationships with leadership, teammates and clients.

My past work experience made be adept in driving ideas from initial creation, through expert planning, and onto successful implementation. I a strong leader with experience running creative departments and design teams to promote marketing strategies. My interesting career journey has given rise to my 360° view of design, advertising and marketing and how to integrate my expertise in photography, video and event activation to create maximum success for the client.

I feel that my strongest skill is truly thinking outside of the box. I call myself an "off-piste" designer who likes to make viewers wonder, ask questions, and feel emotional about what they are taking in. My job has always been to make someone feel something when they are looking at my work.

I have worked in government, private, and non-profit sectors. I am energized by imagining fresh solutions for projects others feel are boring. I love new challenges.

About the lesson

I begin by understanding the student's main objectives. We discuss why they are considering (or are in) the design industry, want deeper knowledge, or need to develop a new skill. Understanding their learning style is essential to make sure they get the most out of their time and I like to be adaptable for students. Building a lesson plan keeps us on track and accountable. I start by discussing the lesson topic and its relevance to the student's end objective. I typically demonstrate skills, create a project to complete and finish with detailed discussion about their solution. I like to talk about how and why they arrived at that solution, are there any components they would want to reconsider, did the solution answer all the objectives set forth, did they enjoy the process, can they grow by working on their process?

What sets me apart is that I am a very good listener and highly passionate about beautiful and functional design. I take great pleasure in mentoring and teaching skills/concepts so others feel more confident in themselves and ultimately more successful. I like to inspire people to be original and be open to putting all ideas on the table without feeling inhibited. Creativity comes by thoughtfully considering so many aspects of a project and I have no shortage of excitement when it comes to brainstorming.

- technical Adobe CS skills
- 360° campaigns development
- brand design and guidelines
- working with a team
- photography and video and their impact on design

I am happy to work with a beginner to an advanced student.
