About Hesley
I graduated summa cum laude from Sewanee: The University of the South with degrees in Environmental Studies: Ecology and Biodiversity and Theater Arts. I am a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa (the oldest and most respected academic honors society in the United States - top 10% of a university's graduating class). I have been working as a tutor and teacher for over 15 years and am passionate about bringing material to life. I often work with children navigating executive dysfunction, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and more.

I am engaging and upbeat when helping students develop strong time management skills, goals, and a positive attitude towards learning. I use the Socratic Method to help students discover the material and provide notes as needed. For math, I model step-by-step work and then switch into a coaching role, catching errors before they become habits. For all subjects, I use discussion based learning to help students engage and deeply understand the material. I love discovering and developing new strategies to help students reach their goals, while making the learning process both memorable and fun.
