About Ernest
I am preparing to study Mathematics at the University of Warwick, having recently graduated from Brighton College. During my time in sixth form, I completed four A-Levels: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with four A*s predicted. Before this, I completed my GCSEs in the UK, achieving eleven grade 9s (or the highest grade equivalent).
Alongside my academic studies, I volunteered to tutor one of my former peers through my college's provision, which earned me a formal tutoring qualification. This improved my teaching strategies and ability to break down complex concepts for other students.
This marks the beginning of my wider tutoring journey, and I look forward to helping students build their confidence and inspiring them!

I believe in strengthening foundational basics and conceptual understanding first. Then, I provide a personally tailored lesson focusing on specific weaknesses to maximise student progress. Students are encouraged to bring challenging questions to the lesson. Rather than simply showing them the solution directly, I review their workings, identify exactly where any errors occurred, and use targeted hints to guide them to the correct answer themselves. To ensure the method is fully grasped, I provide similar follow-up questions for the student to practise. I am also happy to provide my full worked solutions to any relevant questions after the lesson.
Typically, a one-hour lesson per week is sufficient, allowing me time to plan tailored material and mark any work provided by the student. Specific lesson durations can be discussed to suit your needs. We will also utilise a shared platform where the student can access lesson notes, workings, and corrections at any time.
