About Antonia
I led the introduction of Computer Science at Richard Challoner School, New Malden; Marlborough Academy, St Albans; and Adeyfield Academy, Hemel Hempstead. I single-handedly taught Functional Skills ICT to 140 Year 9 students with a pass rate of 95% at Level 2 and 92% at Level 1. As a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) I have experience of training KS5 post-16, and adults. I am an effective teacher, a firm disciplinarian and have a good working relationship with staff and students. I have used my passion and initiative to achieve excellent outcomes at Adeyfield Academy, Marlborough Science Academy, Richard Challoner School, Chesham Park Community College, and Holmer Green Upper School. Since 2018 I have been tutoring Computer Science online. With the increase in demand during the pandemic I have been involved with the Govrrnment’s NTP (National Training Programne) tutoring up to 25 students on a weekly basis, ranging from Year 11 students who need catch up sessions to KS3 students who are not in school for various reasons.

In my opinion young people need to develop skills for life e.g. resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocity, reflectiveness. Online forums discuss the fact that few schools that are able to teach computing because a certain level of expertise is necessary, however I am fortunate to have had experience in teaching adults, post-16, KS4, KS3 and KS2 in my role within the community. As adult workers, young people will be applying for jobs that have not yet been invented, thus my interest in keeping up to date with new technologies and methodology is of value. An understanding of Computer Science will teach young people how to deal with change, and play an effective role in the digital world.
