About Theo
For me, teaching guitar is about guiding students to tell their stories through music. With Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music, I bring a combination of formal training, performance experience, and teaching expertise to every lesson. I focus on building strong foundations—posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone—before exploring improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is introduced in an approachable and practical manner, linked to songs and exercises that students enjoy. Each lesson is personalised to the student’s pace, style, and goals, creating a motivating, supportive environment. I emphasise creativity, self-expression, and confidence alongside technical skill. Ear training, sight-reading, and performance coaching are integral parts of my curriculum. I introduce students to various genres, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, and pop, expanding their musical knowledge and versatility. I provide structured practice routines, guidance, and constructive feedback to ensure steady improvement. Lessons balance discipline with artistic freedom, encouraging exploration and growth. Milestones are celebrated, fostering motivation and perseverance. Over time, students develop not only technical skill but also musical maturity, confidence, and a personal style. My teaching combines mentorship, instruction, and inspiration to nurture each student’s potential. Ultimately, I aim to help students express themselves fully, confidently, and creatively through the guitar.

Every guitarist has a unique story, and my goal is to help you tell yours through music. With advanced degrees in Music and years of teaching experience, I design lessons that nurture both skill and self-expression. We start with foundational techniques like strumming, scales, and chord progressions before exploring complex melodies and solos. My lessons balance structure with creativity, ensuring technical precision without losing the joy of playing. I encourage students to find their own musical voice through guided improvisation and composition. Music theory is introduced naturally, helping you see how songs are built and how to create your own. I incorporate listening exercises to develop musical sensitivity and rhythm awareness. For performers, we focus on confidence, body language, and stage readiness. I provide feedback after every session to guide continuous improvement. Each lesson is a step towards mastering not just the guitar but also musical communication. By the end of our journey, you’ll play with confidence, emotion, and authenticity.
