About Grace

Before Covid-19, I had an afterschool and summer experiential academic achievement program for students who were learning challenged to gifted. We worked individually and as a group in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. We worked on their learning gaps, guided them to find their own voice and shared their voices with their legislators and their staff in Congress. Named the "Young Lobbyists" by Senator Carper of Delaware (now retiring), my students were able to articulate their voices on the areas that mattered most to them and get real world experience interacting with federal and local legislators and their staff. From meeting with Planetary Geologists from NASA to individual members of the Kennedy Center's National Symphony Orchestra, students not only grew their academic achievement but also dreams for their future.

About the lesson

In my online sessions, I guide my personalized reading method that jumps both students and adults' by five reading levels in two months. When a student comes to me to improve their math skills, it will most times, come back to a gap in reading exacerbating math performance. Through strategic practice, students discover that they can reach achievement when before they had self-doubt. We work in a step-by-step method to make sure that the student understands the answer while also embracing the logic behind the answer to give them the ability to approach a wide variety of academic challenges with complete comprehension. I have worked on IEP teams, with learning challenged and gifted students all with success in achievement. My work an element of mindfulness which gives the student the command of their own academic achievement that can lead to the future of their dreams.
