About Kayla
I am a violin tutor with over eight years of experience and a Bachelor of Science in Orchestral Studies where I served as a violin section leader. I love using technology to help my students improve. We use slow-down apps, DAWs, MIDI notation, and video feedback to analyze and refine your playing. This is especially helpful if you want to record violin parts for original songs or covers. I am passionate about teaching Jazz Violin, Rock Strings, and Indie Folk. My lessons also focus on improvisation, helping you create your own musical ideas. I design custom backing tracks so you can practice with a full band feel. You will learn to play with better timing, intonation, and creativity. My approach is modern and practical, preparing you for real-world playing situations. I believe that technology opens up new possibilities for violinists. My teaching methodology integrates theoretical knowledge directly into violin practice. We will explore keys, scales, intervals, and chord theory as they relate to the fingerboard. I show you how understanding theory makes learning new pieces faster and easier. Instead of just playing notes, you will understand why they work together. This knowledge helps you anticipate musical patterns and improve your sight-reading. I use practical exercises that connect theory to your fingers in real time. This approach is especially valuable for exam focused learners who need a strong theoretical foundation. I support students in building confidence with both theory and performance. You will learn to analyze pieces and understand their structure. My lessons make theory accessible and directly applicable to your playing. You will become a more knowledgeable and capable violinist. My goal is to help you understand the why behind every note you play.
