About Kayla
I am a singing tutor with over five years of experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. My greatest joy is working with adult beginners and those returning to singing after a long break. Maybe you want to sing in a community choir, enjoy karaoke, or just feel more confident at social gatherings. I create a low-pressure environment where learning feels encouraging, not stressful. We start with the basics like breathwork and vocal relaxation to release tension. Good posture and mindfulness in music are also key parts of our time together. I help you develop a richer, more beautiful tone, and I love teaching genres like Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult music. For me, singing is a powerful form of self-care and a wonderful way to build confidence. It is never too late to discover the joy of making music. I welcome you to start or restart your singing journey, purely for the enjoyment of it.

My teaching methodology centers on authentic expression and powerful communication through song. We will dive deep into lyric interpretation, exploring the meaning behind every word and phrase. I guide you to build an emotional connection to your songs so that your performances feel genuine and moving. Storytelling through singing is a key focus, and we work on conveying that narrative to your listeners. I use practical exercises to help you embody the emotion of a song, from joy to heartbreak. You will learn to use dynamics, tone color, and phrasing to enhance your musical storytelling. This approach is especially valuable for singers who want to move their audience on a deeper level. I support students who are refining their ability to communicate meaning with clarity and passion. We also work on stage presence and connecting with your listeners during live performances. My goal is to help you become a singer who truly embodies every song you sing.
