About Jonah
I am a dedicated piano tutor with 14 years of teaching experience and a **Bachelor of Music in Collaborative Piano**. My approach combines precision with creativity, guiding students to think critically about every note they play. I believe that piano lessons should go beyond simple repetition—they should inspire curiosity, musicality, and a deeper understanding of the art form. I focus on **individualised learning**, adapting each lesson to the student’s pace, goals, and style. For me, holistic development is essential, which is why I integrate **music theory, ear training, history, and technique** into every session. This well-rounded method not only builds technical skill but also nurtures expressive playing and thoughtful interpretation. I have worked with students from **Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels**, as well as **Professional/Expert musicians** seeking refinement and artistry. My piano teaching approach blends structure with creativity, making lessons enjoyable while still building a strong foundation. I focus on keyboard technique to develop control, speed, and ease at the keys. Ear training is part of every lesson, helping students recognise melodies, harmonies, and rhythms naturally. I also integrate music theory in simple, practical ways so students understand *why* they play what they play. I guide learners through performance skills, showing them how to play with confidence and expression. Some students come with raw talent, others with lifelong dreams—both deserve support to unlock their full potential. I design lesson plans that match each person’s pace, ensuring progress feels steady and motivating. Improvisation, sight-reading, and chord work are introduced step by step to expand versatility. I also use exercises to build finger independence and dexterity, which are vital for all levels. Each session mixes technique, repertoire, and creative exploration to keep things balanced. Above all, I encourage curiosity, discipline, and joy in music-making. My goal is not just to teach piano, but to nurture a lasting love for it.
