About Nivo
Hi there! I’m a singing tutor with over 10 years of experience and hold a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I specialise in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after time away. My goal is to create a warm, low-pressure space where learning feels relaxed, encouraging, and deeply rewarding. I focus on breathwork, vocal relaxation, posture, and mindfulness to help students build a healthy, expressive voice. Whether you're singing just for joy or working towards personal goals, I tailor each lesson to your pace and style. I’m passionate about tone development and helping students connect with their unique sound. Genres I love to teach include Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult styles. Each offers its own flavour of creativity and emotion, and I enjoy guiding students through the techniques and feeling behind each one. Singing, for me, is more than a skill—it’s a powerful form of self-care, expression, and confidence. Many of my students have rediscovered their love of music later in life, and I find joy in helping them grow through it. Wherever you're starting from, your voice is welcome here. My teaching approach focuses on building confidence, refining pitch accuracy, and unlocking true vocal expression. I help students connect emotionally with their voice, allowing them to perform with authenticity and control. For those with strong instrumental backgrounds or academic music goals, I tailor vocal training to match their technical mindset and artistic vision. We start with core techniques—proper breathing, posture, and vocal warm-ups—essential for developing strength and stamina. I emphasise pitch control through targeted ear training exercises and simple vocal drills that improve accuracy. Students also learn how to protect and care for their voice through healthy vocal routines and habits. To support growth, we use tools like metronomes, recording devices, and ear training apps to monitor progress and fine-tune timing, tone, and delivery. I encourage regular self-assessment so students can hear their improvement and set new goals confidently. Each lesson is a mix of structure and creativity, tailored to fit individual strengths and needs. Whether preparing for performances, recitals, or auditions, I provide the techniques and support to help students shine. Most importantly, I aim to create a space where voices grow strong, expressive, and proud.
