About Celine
With over 4 years of experience teaching chess both in-person and online, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students from beginner to advanced levels, including competitive players and aspiring tournament champions. I hold a formal background in strategic thinking and game theory, which informs my approach to chess instruction. My teaching style focuses on developing critical skills like opening theory, positional understanding, tactical sharpness, and endgame mastery. I also emphasize original thinking through game analysis, pattern recognition, and strategic decision-making. Whether we’re reviewing classic games or analyzing your own, each session is tailored to meet your goals and playing style. I enjoy helping students build their own approach to the game, using techniques that strengthen long-term planning, creativity under pressure, and board vision. Lessons often include in-depth strategy breakdowns, practical exercises, and annotated review games to build both skill and confidence. For those with advanced ambitions, I guide preparation for FIDE-rated events and tournament mindset training. Chess is not just about memorizing moves—it's about understanding ideas. My teaching approach to chess is both structured and flexible, designed to match each student’s level and learning goals. I focus on making chess strategy easy to understand by connecting ideas across openings, middlegames, and endgames. We work on applying key concepts like pattern recognition, piece coordination, and tactical calculation through real game situations.
Relevant areas we’ll cover include opening principles, strategic planning, endgame technique, and positional evaluation. I emphasize practical learning through annotated games, puzzle training, and opponent analysis. My lessons are not just about memorizing moves—they’re about understanding why they work.
I'm especially good with The Young Thinker and The Tournament Challenger, and I offer tailored guidance to help them grow with confidence. Whether you're learning to master classical games or developing your own playing style, I help you build strong fundamentals. Every lesson encourages deeper thinking, sharper calculation, and smarter decision-making over the board.
