About Cody

Cody Sloan (he/him/his) is a LA-based actor and coach. He earned his BA in Psychology from Boston University and his MFA in Acting from the University of California San Diego. At UCSD, he was the recipient of The San Diego Fellowship.

Most recently, he can be seen as Cooper in Selah and the Spades on Amazon Prime, directed by Tayarisha Poe, where he worked opposite Jesse Williams and Jharrel Jerome. He also recently originated the role of GURU in MJ Kaufman’s WILD PRIDE, for the sold out NYC run of SEVEN DEADLY SINS. In this original production, he was directed by Tony, Emmy, and Drama Desk award nominated director Moisés Kaufman.

At UCSD, Cody taught Acting and Public Speaking for 3 years at the undergraduate level. Since that time, he has worked one on one with a diverse group of students - teaching dialects, American English for non-Native speakers, acting conservatory preparation, poetry reading, and more! He values each student as an individual, and meets you where you're at. He believes in approaching the work with kindness, joy, and curiosity.

Cody combines high-level technical skills with a deep sensitivity to your needs. He worked with me to prepare for poetry readings. Just one session helped me to see my art in new ways and gave me tools I will be able to use on my own. But even beyond that, his presence is a profoundly human gift. He creates a space in which you are seen and supported in being vulnerable and taking risks even as he helps you locate areas for growth. As someone who hires teachers, I wish I could fill my school with teachers like him!
