About Isai
I love music and sharing it with students, other musicians and new audiences. I have a passion for improvisation and exploration as I've studied percussion under Lou Grassi for more than a decade, and Tony Thunder Smith. I've been really fortunate to study composition both at Lincoln Center under phenomenal composers Jon Deak, Alex Weiser, Molly Herron, Jessica Mays, Luke Cissell and others, and additionally at the Special Music School in NYC, under their highly selective composition program with teachers such as Dr. Lauren Loiacono and Howard Kenty. I have had a number of meaningful performances domestically and internationally and I'm excited to share what I've learned with you.

Hey! My name is Isai, ( Ǐss-eye ) I am a Berklee College of Music student majoring in composition and film scoring. As a percussionist and composer, my music has been performed by orchestras including the NY Philharmonic, the Shanghai Orchestra, the 21st Century Consort at the American History Museum of Natural History in D.C. and a number of other fancy places. ;^) I started composing at 9 years old and studying percussion before the age of 5. I love helping students discover their creative voice through theory, rhythm, and modern composition tools. Subjects I teach: Composition & film scoring Beginner piano & rhythm Percussion (world/jazz focus) Lessons are tailored to your goals, whether you’re writing your first piece or polishing an advanced portfolio.
