I would love to try and help some kids excel in maths. I do not believe in natural ability I believe if there is a will there is a way. The issue is always how I give information never anything else.

About Will
My name is Will Wilkinson I am 20 years old have studied maths and physics up to A-level. After reading around learning and through helping out younger siblings I realise it’s never their ability that it comes down to, it might take some a little longer; but that’s because all our minds are different and they perhaps can’t relate to what you’re saying or they’re not being taught in a way that suits them. I believe that the right kind of work and the right kind of teaching produces the right kind of results: an intrinsic inner confidence for the student that they believe they can achieve with some quality work and then the results will surely follow. I would love to help all kids of all (perceived) “abilities” feel like with the right work they can achieve anything. I got an A*A* at Maths and further maths GCSE and A*A at maths and further maths A-level retrospectively! I do not have a great deal of formal experience but I am keen to start straight away and I am deeply looking forward to it!

I would like to learn with my students. Hopefully getting to know them, and then trying to explain things in different ways, I think too many schools put grades down to ability but the grades come with a will and finding a way. If one way doesn’t work try again. By knowing them on a personal level I will be able to see how they think which can only help we will hopefully feel like a team tackling an exam rather than my student feeling like they’re trying to copy what I do every single time!

Details
So I would like to offer two free sessions initially, if you like the way things are going My rates are as above: £18/hour and £1 per mile of travel. In the first call/meeting I would like to get to know who I’m working with. Then in the second free session proceed to the trail lesson. Feel free to email me their textbooks etc so I can get ahead of the game for the first session and the more I know the better, so I can get them ordered and we can start strong!
