About Omar
Hi! I’m Omar — a professional screenwriter with real-world experience in story development, production, and pitching at the highest levels. I’ve worked with producers connected to Netflix, A24, Disney+, and Sony, and helped develop features alongside Oscar-nominated Philistine Films. My own work has caught the attention of major industry players like Riz Ahmed’s Left-Handed Films and premiered at the 2024 Oscar-qualifying Pan African Film Festival. I’ve built a career not just on writing, but on understanding what makes stories work — creatively, commercially, and structurally. Whether it’s shaping a narrative from the ground up or reworking a script for financing and market fit, I’ve been through it — and I bring that same care, strategy, and insight to my students. You don’t need another vague “script consultant.” You need someone who knows how to take a story from spark to screen — and can teach you how to do the same.
I’m a working screenwriter with real industry credits, international development experience, and films that have attracted major attention. I’ve currently adapting a headline-making article from The Ringer into a feature project that caught the interest of Riz Ahmed’s Left-Handed Films. I’ve worked with producers attached to Netflix, A24, Disney+, Sony, and more — and co-led the development of a feature alongside Oscar-nominated Philistine Films. My short film Demo-Lition premiered at the 2024 Oscar-qualifying Pan African Film Festival with a cast from Black-ish and Westworld. This is the real world I teach from.
My approach is practical, collaborative, and story-first. I’ll help you see your idea from a producer’s point of view, sharpen it for an audience, and build it from the ground up using storytelling tools that actually work. Structure, character, tone, pacing, dialogue — we’ll break it all down in a way that’s not rigid, but deeply usable.
A typical lesson might involve analyzing a scene you’ve written, outlining a sequence together, brainstorming story mechanics, or rewriting with a specific production goal in mind. Whether you’re starting from scratch or knee-deep in a draft, I’ll meet you where you are and help move your project forward.
What sets me apart is that I’m not teaching theory from a textbook. I teach what I’ve lived — from financing talks to producer notes, from story development across international teams to market positioning for grants and festivals like HollyShorts and Shore Scripts. I know how the machine works, and I know how to tell a story that cuts through.
