About Karen
I love working with students and seeing them progress. One of the most satisfying aspects of teaching writing is to see the student become more confident and proficient in his or her writing. Many students are scared to write or simply don't like writing. But there is no fear here -- I guarantee you that you can become a better writer.
I have been teaching for twenty-seven years with students ranging from sixth grade to college level. I also do freelance writing and editing. In my free time, I love to read -- so much of my life is centered around words!

I have been teaching English on the high school level for twenty-seven years and the college level for four years. I can help you learn MLA and APA formatting, proper essay organization, and how to formulate a research paper. For the younger middle school student, I will help you develop a strong five-paragraph essay.
With remote tutoring, I will meeting with you virtually to explain each step of the writing process. We will share documents so that I can see your work progress and help you along the way. A typical lesson plan would include editing the last lesson's products, going over the parameters of the next step in the writing process, and then putting the day's lesson into practice.
I will tailor the lesson to the age level and writing ability. Each writing project will include pre-writing, gathering information, drafting, editing/revision, and sharing.
