About Kelly
Hi! I’m an educator and tutor with experience working with elementary and middle school students in classroom, afterschool, mentoring, and individualized tutoring settings. I have a degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems from UC Davis, along with a background in education, youth programming, and academic support. I especially enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects that may initially feel frustrating or difficult. My teaching style is patient, flexible, and responsive to each student’s interests and learning style. As a neurodivergent educator myself, I have a particular understanding of the importance of adapting instruction and creating supportive learning environments for neurodivergent students. I aim to make lessons engaging and practical while giving students the tools and confidence to become more independent learners. I can help with reading, writing, English, math, science, history, homework, study skills, and more.

My approach to reading, writing, and English instruction is student-centered and adaptable to each learner’s needs, interests, and learning style. I combine explicit instruction with guided practice, discussion, reading, writing activities, and real-world applications. A typical lesson includes reviewing previous concepts, introducing or reinforcing a skill, practicing together, and giving the student opportunities to apply it independently. I focus on building both academic skills and confidence, helping students develop positive relationships with learning rather than simply memorizing rules. I work primarily with elementary and middle school students, including students who benefit from additional academic support, and can assist with reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, homework, and foundational English skills.
