About Matthew
I am a college student at the University of Pittsburgh studying Biology and Spanish while also continuing to study saxophone at the university. My saxophone career began when I was 11 and I have played in various school ensembles, jazz bands, saxophone ensembles, marching band, and have competed in a number of adjudicated piano-accompanied solos.

My approach to teaching lessons is starting with a very strong base and really drilling the vital fundamentals. I’m also inclined to expose students to playing by ear and memory as opposed to with written music (notes on paper isn’t music, music is what you make it!). I also stress the right balance of constructive criticism and positive reinforcement.
