About Rubin
Requests for lessons started coming in after regulars at my open mics kept asking how I managed my acoustic sets. Playing guitar is actually my primary focus while singing is a secondary task. I hold a music degree from USC and have spent 13 years gigging throughout the South.
Expect to cover power chords, music theory, ear training, grade exam prep, and reading sheet music. You will also practice improvisation, soloing, chord transitions, and various scales or modes.
I keep things very hands-on and playful during our time together. My goal is to make sure you enjoy the process of learning. Simplicity matters.

Students eventually discover that the most effective way to sing is by prioritizing the instrument in their hands. It is a bit funny to admit that I started this journey as a gigging guitarist rather than a vocal coach.
I apply my 13 years of gigging experience and my USC training to help you find your groove. We will work through 9 distinct stages to build your confidence on the fretboard.
You receive a monthly recorded review of your progress as part of our arrangement. This 7.0 system helps track your growth across our acoustic sessions.
I focus on the rhythm first and foremost. The lessons follow a logical path toward your goals. I look forward to seeing your progress continue.
