About Rhys
As a dedicated guitar tutor with over 11 years of experience, I specialize in teaching students of all abilities, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, and anxiety. Holding a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar), I combine my background in music therapy and special education to create lessons that are both adaptive and empowering. I believe that every learner has a unique rhythm, and my approach focuses on uncovering each student’s strengths to build skill and confidence through music. My sessions emphasize patience, encouragement, and creativity, ensuring that students feel supported at every step. I use a variety of teaching strategies tailored to individual learning styles, from visual aids and tactile exercises to rhythm-based games and improvisation. Technique, expression, and enjoyment are balanced to help students grow both musically and personally. Whether you’re just beginning or refining your skills, I help you find your own musical voice while developing discipline and joy in practice. Many of my students have discovered not only progress in playing but also greater focus, self-esteem, and emotional balance. My goal is to make every lesson a positive, motivating experience where growth feels natural and rewarding. Everyone deserves the chance to shine through music — and I’m here to help you make that happen, one note at a time.

My teaching approach focuses on helping every student connect deeply with the guitar and their own musical expression. I start by building a strong foundation in technique, posture, and hand positioning to prevent strain and encourage fluid playing. Mental preparation is just as important — I guide students to develop focus, patience, and confidence through mindful practice routines. Finger independence exercises are part of every lesson, helping students master control, agility, and tone clarity.
I adapt my lessons to fit each student’s personality and musical goals. For some, that means channeling raw energy and creativity into structured learning. For others, it’s refining technique, precision, and expressive playing through fingerstyle and other advanced methods. I make sure every learner understands not only how to play but also how to feel the music.
Students are also coached on stage presence, dealing with performance anxiety, and preparing for recitals or auditions. I use real-world performance tips to build self-assurance and readiness. My goal is to help students grow into confident guitarists who can perform passionately, whether in their rooms or on stage.
