About Katie

I’m a BSN-prepared nurse with over 30 years of experience across a wide range of clinical settings, including med-surg/telemetry, oncology, emergency and pediatric emergency care, poison control, flight nursing (PHRN), private duty, and healthcare IT as an analyst.

I’ve worked in both small community hospitals and high-acuity inner-city trauma centers, which has given me a well-rounded perspective on patient care across different environments.

I’ve been tutoring nursing students for a little over a year and enjoy helping make complex information more clear, practical, and easier to understand.

About the lesson

My lessons are offered virtually or in person, depending on your needs. I prepare in advance for each session based on your specific topics, so our time together is focused, efficient, and tailored to you.

I take the time to understand your learning style and adapt my approach so the material actually clicks. I focus on helping you understand the application of what you’re learning—not just memorization—so you can grasp the “why” behind it and think like a nurse.

My goal is to help you take the overwhelming amount of information from lectures and break it down into clear, manageable pieces that make sense in real-world practice.

I also offer personalized tip sheets, summaries, and tables after sessions if you’d like additional support.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just want to strengthen your understanding, I’m here to help you build confidence and get to the finish line.

Today we had conversations about her schooling and what she is looking to get out of these lessons. Ideally these lessons will help her understand nursing concepts from an English speaking perspective as she would like to take the NCLEX. English is not her primary language. Our focus will be on understanding nursing concepts and her ability to explain and understand them in English. She is very motivated and is already doing self learning which will make her more successful for sure.
